Konrad Srzednicki (born November 1, 1894 in Wysokie Mazowieckie , Poland , † April 8, 1993 in Krakow ) was a Polish painter and graphic artist .

Life

Konrad Srzednicki studied from 1921 to 1924 at the private Krzyzanowski Academy of Painting and Drawing in Warsaw . From 1924 to 1930 he attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw , where he obtained his degree in painting in 1936.

From 1929 to 1939 he was assistant in the graphic design department at the Warsaw Academy. From 1939 he taught as a professor of graphics at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow , where he was appointed rector from 1951 to 1952 .

In 1931 he joined the artist group "Ryt" (Stowarzyszenie Polskich Artystów Grafików) . From 1952 to 1960 he was a member of the "Grupa 9 Grafików". In 1965 he received an honorary membership of the Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence .

Srzednicki practiced painting and printmaking. He implemented his views of Krakow with lithography, metal technology and, more rarely, with woodcuts. With oil paints he created figurative compositions, landscapes and still lifes. His drawings are shaped by poetic interpretations of nature that often used religious quotes.
