Konrad Stolle
Konrad Stolle (* 1436 in Niederzimmer unter dem Ettersberg; † December 30, 1501 in Erfurt ) was a chronicler from Erfurt .
After attending the school of the Erfurt Severistift and the school in Langensalza , Stolle may have studied, possibly in Italy, where he stayed from 1458–1463. After his return he took over vicarages in Erfurt (in the Severi monastery , in the Weißfrauenkloster and at the parish church of St. Bartholomäus). However, there is no evidence of ordination. In the former collegiate church of St. Severi, his tombstone is still preserved today, showing him in priestly garb.
From 1477 he recorded time events in his Memoriale , a Thuringian-Erfurt chronicle. The only manuscript (probably autograph ) has been preserved in the Thuringian University and State Library in Jena (Ms. Sag. Q. 3). His work, in which Stolle included numerous independent texts (e.g. songs about the Burgundian Wars ), is regarded as a lively narrative representation and an important cultural and historical source.
