Konrad Zerobin

Konrad Zerobin (born April 18, 1931 in Bischofshofen ; † March 4, 2013 ) was an Austrian veterinarian.

Life

After graduating from high school, Konrad Zerobin first studied law for two semesters and then veterinary medicine at the University of Vienna . In 1953 he became a member of the Corps Saxonia Vienna . In 1957 he was promoted to Dr. med. vet. PhD. In the same year he went to the veterinary outpatient clinic at the University of Zurich . In 1961 he moved to the Veterinary Physiological Institute in Zurich. In 1962 he undertook a research stay of several months at the University of Cambridge . In 1967 he completed his habilitation on uterine motor skills in pigs, followed in 1969 by his appointment as assistant professor and in 1970 as associate professor. In 1973 he was appointed director and in 1975 professor of the Institute for Zuchthygiene. In 1996 he retired.

As a professor of andrology and gynecology, he is considered a pioneer of artificial insemination for cattle and pigs in Switzerland. He was co-editor and author of several textbooks and author of numerous scientific articles. From 1980 to 1982 he was Dean of the Veterinary Faculty of the University of Zurich. For many years he was a member of the board of the Swiss Veterinary Society . He was a member of the Swiss Academy of Medical Sciences .
