Konstantin-Alexander Hossmann

Konstantin-Alexander Hossmann (born March 31, 1937 in Breslau ) is a German neurologist .

Life

Hossmann studied physics and medicine between 1956 and 1962 in Göttingen , Paris, Hamburg, Munich and Berlin. In 1963 he received his doctorate from the Free University of Berlin in Berlin. med., in 1968 he did his second doctorate (mention sciences) at the University of Paris. He completed his habilitation in 1972 at the University of Cologne , where he was appointed adjunct professor for experimental neurology in 1976. Between 1978 and 1982 he was head of the research center for brain circulation research of the Max Planck Society in Cologne. In 1982 he was appointed Scientific Member of the Max Planck Society and at the same time director of the newly founded Max Planck Institute for Neurological Research in Cologne . In 2005 he retired.

Hossmann's main research areas were experimental neurology, translational research, stroke, cerebral resuscitation and brain edema.

Hossmann was a member of various editorial boards, such as the journals Neurosurgical Review , Journal of Cerebral Blood Flow and Metabolism , Stroke and NeuroImage .
