Konstantin Nikolajewitsch Wolkow ( Russian Константин Николаевич Волков ; born February 7, 1985 in Leningrad , Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player who was most recently under contract with Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg in the Continental Hockey League .
Career
Konstantin Volkov began his career as an ice hockey player in the youth department of HK Dynamo Moscow , for whose second team he was active in the third-rate Pervaya League from 2001 to 2003 . The winger was then selected in the fourth round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft as a total of 125 players by the Toronto Maple Leafs , for which he never played and instead made his professional ice hockey debut in the 2003/04 season when he was for the THK Tver and ZSK WWS Samara in the Wysschaja Liga , the second Russian division, was on the ice. He also ran in the same season for the second team of HK Lada Tolyatti in the Pervaya League, for whose professional team he stormed in the Super League in the 2004/05 season .
In the summer of 2005 Volkov signed a contract with Vityas Chekhov , for which he was active in the super league in the following two and a half years. He then played for one and a half seasons for the second division clubs HK Dmitrow and HK Rys Podolsk . For the 2009/10 season , the Russian was obliged by his now relocated ex-club HK MWD Balaschicha from the Continental Hockey League founded a year earlier . With this he was only defeated by Ak Bars Kazan in the final of the playoffs for the Gagarin Cup . After the season, the HK MWD was merged with the HK Dynamo Moscow and the left-handed shooter received a contract for the 2010/11 season with their successor team OHK Dynamo .
