Konstantin Shamrai ( Russian Константин Шамрай ; born May 27, 1985 in Novosibirsk ) is a Russian pianist .

Life

Schamrai first studied at the Music School No. 1 in Kemerovo with Natalia Knobloch , from 1996 at the Gnessin Special School for Music in Moscow and from 2003 until now at the State Gnessin Institute in Moscow , initially with Tatjana Selikman and currently (2011) with Vladimir Tropp .

He has received scholarships from several international foundations - including The New Names , International Wladimir Spiwakow Foundation , The Performing Art Foundation and the Glasunow Foundation in Munich - and has already given numerous concerts in Russia , Italy , Germany , the Netherlands , Austria , the Czech Republic , Australia , Singapore , the USA and China . He has performed with internationally recognized orchestras such as the Prague Philharmonic and the Moscow Philharmonic . In the meantime he also produced several CDs.

At the age of ten, he won third prize at the Young Pianists Competition in Senigallia . In recent years he has won first and second prizes in a number of international competitions such as the Sydney International Piano Competition 2008, where he took first prize in all eight categories. After his overwhelming victory in Sydney , he gave 27 concerts in all the states of Australia, in 2009 another 14 concerts followed, and in 2010 another 30 concerts in Australia and Singapore. From then on, other concerts followed in Europe, including at the Ruhr Piano Festival . In October 2011 he took first place at the Kissinger Piano Olympics and in 2013 received the Luitpold Prize of the Kissinger Sommer Festival .

Shamrai is a member of the Moscow Wagner Society.
