Konstantinas Bogdanas (born February 4, 1926 in Žeimiai , Kėdainiai district , † September 26, 2011 in Vilnius ) was a Lithuanian sculptor , professor, honorary citizen of the Jonava district .

Life

Konstantinas Bogdanas was born in Žeimiai Manor . He studied at the Paežeriai elementary school (near Biržai ) and from 1939 to 1944 at the Biržai grammar school. From 1944 to 1945 he studied at the Panevėžys Teachers' College . From 1947 to 1951 he worked as a teacher in Kaunas . In 1951 he graduated from the Kaunas Institute for Applied and Decorative Arts with honors (his teachers were Robertas Antinis , Bronius Pundzius , Juozas Mikėnas ).

From 1951 to 1993 (with a break from 1953 to 1956) he was a university professor at the Vilniaus dailės institutas . From 1953 to 1956 he was an aspirant at the USSR Art Academy of I. Repin in Leningrad . In 1956 he received his doctorate and became a candidate for art history . He later became a professor.

From 1985 to 1989 he was a deputy of the Supreme Council of Soviet Lithuania .

His grave is in the Saltoniškės Cemetery , Vilnius .
