Konstantinos "Kostas" Konstantinidis ( Greek Κωνσταντίνος "Κώστας" Κωνσταντινίδης , born August 31, 1972 in Schorndorf ) is a former Greek football player .
biography
Childhood and youth
As a teenager, he began his first football steps at home VfL Schorndorf and then in the youth team of VfB Stuttgart . At the age of 12, the Konstantinidis family emigrated to Greece.
Professional career
Before the start of the 1994/95 season, the defender , who can be used in many positions, moved within the Greek league to Crete for the club OFI Crete . After two seasons, he moved within the following season 1996/97 in January 1997 to the then reigning Greek champions Panathinaikos Athens . In the following season he was runner-up with Panathinaikos and in his last season for this club in 1998/99 again third. For an amount of 1.3 million euros he then moved to Germany in the Bundesliga with Hertha BSC . There he played the next two seasons and came to a total of 41 missions. Within the following season 2001/02 Konstantinidis moved to the English Premier League for the Bolton Wanderers . After his brief interlude there, however, he returned to Berlin at the end of this season. Shortly after the start of the 2002/03 season, he was hired by the then Bundesliga promoted Hannover 96 for 200,000 euros and played there in 43 championship games in his two seasons. He then moved to the 2nd Bundesliga for relegated 1. FC Köln before the start of the 2004/05 season . There he was only able to contribute a small part to the promotion due to injury problems. Despite the current contract until the end of the 2005/06 season, his contract with 1. FC Köln was terminated with immediate effect on August 22, 2005. Konstantinidis then played for OFI Crete, where he signed a contract until the end of the season before moving to Nea Salamis Famagusta , where he ended his playing career on June 30, 2008.
National team
Konstantinidis has made 38 appearances for the Greek national team in his career , scoring one goal. He never took part in a soccer world championship or European championship with Greece.
