The Korean Military Ordinariate is the military ordinariate over North and South Korea , which is responsible for the Korean People's Army (North Korea) and the armed forces of the Republic of Korea (South Korea). Due to the isolation policy of North Korea, the competence of the Ordinariate is in fact limited to the South Korean area.
history
The military ordinariate looks after members of the country's armed forces, who belong to the Catholic denomination, with pastoral care. It was established by Pope John Paul II on November 22, 1983, initially as a military vicariate ; on October 23, 1989 it became a military ordinariate. By mutual agreement between the Holy See and South Korea, the seat of the military ordinariate is in Seoul .
