The Corsican Filaree ( Erodium corsicum ) is a plant from the family of geraniaceae (Geraniaceae).
description
The cushion-forming, woody plant reaches heights of 10 to 20 centimeters. The greyish-green leaves are hairy with soft gray hair. Their shape is oblong-egg-shaped, notched with the upper ones sometimes incised lobed. The pale or dark pink and heavily veined flowers have a diameter of 20 to 25 millimeters and stand individually or up to three on a common glandless stalk. The white hairy partial fruits have a 10 to 15 millimeter long bill.
Flowering time is from April to June.
Occurrence
The Corsican heron beak is endemic to Corsica and Sardinia . In Corsica often on the western coast between Calvi and Ajaccio . Coastal rocks are preferred as the location.
With winter protection, the species is also suitable for rock gardens in Central Europe.
