The Koskulak Tagh is a 7028  m high glaciated mountain in the eastern Pamir Mountains in Xinjiang ( PR China ).

The Koskulak Tagh is located in the Tajik Autonomous Okrug Tashkorgan in the administrative district of Kashgar . The mountain is part of the Muztagata massif . For 4.83 kilometers further north 7509  m high Muztagata introduces ridge.

Ascent history

The first ascent was made by a Russian mountaineering group (Leonid Fishkis, Dmitry Komarov and Alexandr Novik) on August 10th (according to other sources on August 12th) over the northwest ridge. A Russian group of seven (A. Petrov, V. Odokhovskiy and others) reached the summit two days later via the southwest ridge. On August 17, 2005, the two Russians Alexey Gorbatenkov and Valery Shamalo climbed the summit via the north face. On August 4, 2007, an expedition led by Matthias Robl achieved the first German ascent of Koskulak Tagh. Michael Robert, Boris and Frank Schreckenbach from Munich climbed the Koskulak Tagh on skis in August 2009 and descended from the summit.
