Koszutka (German: Kossutka ) is the smallest district of Katowice with an area of 1.4 km² and is located north of the DTŚ bypass (Drogowa Trasa Średnicowa), on both sides of Korfanty Allee and is regarded as an extension of the actual city center - Śródmieście. Neighboring districts are Śródmieście , Wełnowiec , Bogucice and Dąb .

In 2003 the population was about 12,600, in 1997 about 13,600. During this time, the population per km² fell from 9,710 to 9,000. The average age in Koszutka is significantly higher than the average age in Katowice. The northern area of the district is a residential area, the southern area is characterized by multi-storey apartment buildings from the 1950s and apartment blocks from subsequent decades. The district, which is mainly a residential area, with a small proportion of office and service space, offers hardly any free building space. Due to its central location, some municipal service facilities are located in Koszutka.

Koszutka was founded in the 17th century as a colony of Bogucice . The development of the district was particularly pronounced in the 19th century. However, structural growth stalled due to the fire at the “Fanny” mine that lasted several years, during which the ground subsided. In the 1930s, the structural expansion concentrated on the western part of today's Korfanty-Allee (Aleja Korfantego). In 1924 Koszutka became part of Katowice together with Bogucice. At the time of the People's Republic of Poland (PRL) Koszutka was mainly known as the Marchlewski workers' quarter (Osiedle Robotnicze im. J. Marchlewskiego). At that time the so-called "familoki" were replaced by new, low-storey buildings. At the end of the 1960s, the “Blue Blocks” (“niebieske bloki”) - higher apartment buildings - and the shopping pavilion complex along Königshütter Straße (ul. Chorzowska), commonly known as “Passage” (“pasaż”), were built.
