Drogowa Trasa Średnicowa in Katowice

The Drogowa Trasa Średnicowa (abbreviation: DTŚ ) is a busy road in the Upper Silesian Industrial Region , the cities Katowice , Chorzów , Świętochłowice , Ruda Śląska , Zabrze and Gliwice connects. The road is on the entire length highway-like but with mostly three, two lanes per road expanded. Thereby it ensures a considerable improvement of the road traffic in this region. The distance between Katowice and Gliwice will be reduced by 26%, travel time by 76%, fuel consumption by 47%, the number of accidents by 82%, operating costs by 39% and air pollution by 50%.

Since 1993 the joint stock company Drogowa Trasa Średnicowa SA (DTŚ SA) has been responsible for the financing, operation and construction as operator.

Course and Financing

The "Drogowa Trasa Średnicowa" begins in Katowice on Stęślicki Street and ends after 20.2 kilometers in Zabrze at the junction with De Gaulle'a Street. The road runs two to six kilometers north and parallel to the A4 motorway . The main difference is that there are 26 nodes on the DTS route with other roads compared to 6 nodes on the comparable section of the A4. In contrast to the A4, it is mainly used by urban, local traffic. Several large shopping centers settled along the street, including the Silesia City Center in Katowice .

The section between the Rozdzieńskiego and Dąb nodes in Katowice is part of the national road 79 . On the remainder of the route, the DTS has been signposted as Voivodship Road 902 since January 1, 2006 . In the urban area of Katowice, the street is also known as Trasa imienia Nikodema i Józefa Renców .

Since 1994 the budget for the construction has increased thanks to the European Investment Bank (EIB), which has provided a guarantee for the financing. Since 1999, the construction of the DTS has been a joint responsibility of the Polish government, the municipalities of the Silesian Voivodeship and the cities through which the road runs. This allows the work to progress steadily.

history

Construction of the line between the Dąb node in Katowice and Chorzów began in 1979, but was canceled in 1981 after the first earthworks at the Mieszka I and Gałeczki nodes . Construction work resumed in 1986. After many years of construction with some interruptions due to financial problems, the section was opened in 2001. A 1.5 km long bridge was built in Katowice-Dąb.

In 2006 the DTŚ in Katowice was further built to the east. On December 9, 2006, a four-lane tunnel under the Rondo Generała Jerzego Ziętka with a length of 657 and 650.1 meters was opened to traffic. In addition, construction work began in Ruda Śląska and Zabrze .

On May 27, 2008, the section between Ruda Śląska and the city limits of Zabrze was opened to traffic. The further route to the junction with the De Gaulle'a road was opened on June 10, 2011.

construction

The sections from the Zabrze-De Gaulle'a junction to the Zabrze-Roosevelta junction (3.1 km), from the Zabrze-Roosevelta junction to the Gliwice-Kujawska junction (2.8 km) and from the Gliwice- Kujawska to the already completed Gliwice-Portowa node.

The first section should be completed and opened in 2014 after a construction delay. Construction began at the end of June 2012. The section will be realized by the consortium consisting of the construction companies Eurovia Polska and Przedsiębiorstwo Remontów Ulic i Mostów from Gliwice. The construction costs amount to 184.1 million zlotys.

The second section will be built by the Skanska construction company in 2014 for 244.6 million złoty . The contract between the construction company and the investor DTŚ SA was signed on July 11, 2012. The construction time is 25 months.

Construction began in December 2012 after the contract was signed on December 12th with a consortium led by the company Eurovia Polska and the construction company Bilfinger Berger Budownictwo as partners. The construction costs amount to around 700 million złoty (corresponds to approx. 175 million euros ). The construction time is 24 months, the completion was planned for December 2014. The construction was completed in March 2016 and officially opened for road traffic on March 20 of the same year.

Planning

Further construction is also planned east of Katowice to Mysłowice , Sosnowiec , Będzin and Dąbrowa Górnicza . The cost of the 22.3-kilometer route is estimated at 160 million euros, other estimates assume 210 million euros. As a first stage, the road is to be extended to Mysłowice. The route is to be finalized by 2014, all permits obtained and financing secured, so that construction work should start at the end of 2014 / beginning of 2015. Completion is expected in 2017 [obsolete] . Template: future / in 5 yearsThe DTŚ to Dąbrowa Górnicza is to be completed by 2025 .
