Koyaama (also: Koyama , Kunyama Kundeeq , Kwayama , Coiama , Jasiira Koiama ) is the second largest island of Somalia with an area of ​​6.38 km². It belongs politically to Jubaland and geographically to the Bajuni Islands , a chain of coral islands ( barrier islands ), which extends from Kismaayo in the north over 100 kilometers to the Raas Kaambooni near the Kenyan border.

The island is off the coast, across from Jiroole and between Kiyaamwa in the north and the elongated Guumme in the south. The island forms a bay of the same name to the southwest, to the mainland. It is about 1.5 km from the coast. It is approx. 5.3 km long and up to 2 km wide, with a rather irregular shape with a wide southern part and a narrower northern part, where the settlement of the same name is located. There is a second smaller settlement, Koyamani . In terms of area, it is almost as large as Juula (6.40 km²). There are numerous historical ruins and monuments on the island, such as " pillar tombs ".

The residents are mostly Bajuni and there is a minority of gaaljecel , a subclan of the saransoor . This ethnic group is experiencing steady immigration.
