Koza Wielka (German Groß Kosel ) is a village with about 230 inhabitants in the municipality of Perzów in Poland . It is located southeast of Syców (German: Groß Wartenberg) and belongs to the powiat Kępiński , Greater Poland Voivodeship .
history
The village is a typical medieval street village that emerged from the German east settlement and is located in the southeastern catchment area of Syców, belonged to the rule of the Biron- Kurland family . In 1920, as a result of the Treaty of Versailles, the eastern parts of the Groß Wartenberg district with the village of Groß Kosel were awarded to the newly founded Republic of Poland. The border with Poland ran directly in front of the Catholic Church of St. Philip and Jacob, a wooden church that has been verifiable since the Middle Ages and belonged to the parish of Groß Wartenberg. The German population, who, despite the new border, continued to orient themselves towards Groß Wartenberg, was not expelled until 1945 at the end of the Second World War . During an administrative reform in 1975 the village became part of the Kalisz Voivodeship , and when it was reformed again in 1999, it became part of the Greater Poland Voivodeship. Only a few formerly German residents still live in Koza Wielka, which is now Polish.
