course

The Krötenbach rises in the southern Vogelsberg at an altitude of about 323  m above sea level. NHN in a field northwest of Bad Soden-Salmünster - Katholisch-Willenroth at the southeastern foot of the Markberg ( 331.4  m above sea level ). It initially flows about 250 m south through fields and then turns to the southwest. After another 250 meters, it reaches the boundary of Bad Soden-Salmünster and Brachttal and marks the border between the two communities for a good kilometer. It now moves westward through grassland and then passes the Brachttal district of Udenhain . After he has left the village, he continues to walk west through a meadow landscape. It then feeds a small pond, changes its direction to the northwest, flows through a small deciduous forest and finally flows east of Brachttal- Hellstein at an altitude of about 200  m above sea level. NHN in the Sotzbach .

On its way from the source to the estuary it is strengthened by a series of small field and meadow ditches.
