The Rosenburg power plant is a run-of-river power plant operated by evn naturkraft am Kamp in Rosenburg-Mold in the state of Lower Austria .

history

After a construction period of around eight months, the "Stadt Horn electricity works" was opened opposite the "Rauschermühle" on January 18, 1908. A Francis turbine from Voith with an output of 340  kW drives a synchronous generator (300 / min, 470  kVA , 5.3  kV ). The Niederösterreichische Elektrizitätswirtschafts-Aktiengesellschaft NEWAG was founded in 1922 . The power plant was modernized and expanded in 1933: A second turbine with 600 kW and a second generator (with 300 / min, 915 kVA, 5.25 kV) were installed. In flood events on the Kamp in 1941, 1944 and 2002 , the power plant was damaged during the flood. In 2003 a fish pass with a water flow rate of 210 l / s was set up.

investment

Beyond the Umlaufberg, the camp is dammed up and led to the power house via tunnels.

expansion

A planned expansion of the power plant chain on the Kamp in 1981 with raising the dam in Rosenburg to 22 m was abandoned after protests.

In 2015, a planning office analyzed options for the renovation or repowering of the Rosenburg power plant. EVN AG submitted an environmental impact assessment project in 2017 . The Lower Austrian Nature Conservation Association , WWF Austria and various citizens' initiatives are trying to prevent the project.
