The power plant Safi is a coal power plant in the region Marrakech-Safi , Morocco . The city of Safi is approximately 15 km north of the power plant.

The installed capacity of the power plant is 1386 MW . It is owned and operated by Safi Energy Company SA (SAFIEC) and is also operated by SAFIEC. SAFIEC is a project company owned by Engie (35%), Nareva Holding (35%) and Mitsui & Co (30%). Construction of the power plant started in 2015; it went into operation in December 2018.

Power plant units

The power plant consists of two blocks, each with an output of 693 MW. Both blocks use supercritical steam generators (see supercritical water ). The steam turbines and generators were supplied by Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems, Ltd. (MHPS).

Others

The power plant was built by Daewoo Engineering & Construction ; the total cost is given as $ 2.6 billion . The electricity generated is sold to the Office National de l'Electricité et de l'Eau Potable (ONEE) for 30 years . The power plant requires 10,000 tons of coal per day.
