history

On October 22, 1947, Friedrich Schmidt founded Gummiwerk Kraiburg GmbH & Co. KG in Kraiburg am Inn, Bavaria . Later, the sons Peter and Fritz A. Schmidt also joined the company. In 1965, Kraiburg Austria Ges.mbH & Co. was founded in Geretsberg , the first branch in Upper Austria . 1968 was followed by the acquisition of today's Gummiwerk Kraiburg Elastik GmbH in Tittmoning, where old rubber was processed into new products. Gezolan AG was founded in Dagmersellen in Switzerland in 1971 with the same business idea .

In 1985, the TPE division for the development and production of thermoplastic elastomers was founded as a new branch of Kraiburg's business. After the turnaround , Gummiwerk Kraiburg Relastec GmbH was founded in Salzwedel in April 1991 , and on July 2nd, 1993 a new production hall with approx. In 1995 a new production facility was set up at TPE with which the production capacity could be expanded from 265 tons to 10,000 tons per year. Kraiburg TPE sales offices in Italy, Malaysia and the USA followed. In 2001 the new production site in Waldkraiburg, Friedrich-Schmidt-Str. 2 and the company Kraiburg TPE GmbH was founded. Further production sites followed in the USA and Malaysia. In 2006, the name was changed from Kraiburg TPE GmbH to Kraiburg TPE GmbH & Co. KG. Kraiburg TPE currently employs around 360 people and has a production capacity of around 28,000 tons of material.

In 2005, Kraiburg founded Kraiburg Rubber Co. Ltd. in Suzhou, China. with own production. This was followed in 2007 by a new rubber plant for Kraiburg GmbH & Co. KG in Novi Iskar in Bulgaria and the establishment of Kraiburg TPE Technoloigy (M) SDN. BHD. at the Seri Kembangan- Kuala Lumpur site in 2008. In 2015, Kraiburg took over PuraSys GmbH & Co. KG in Diepholz .
