Kres

Kres ( Greek  Κρής ), father of Talos , ancestor of the funeral judge Rhadamanthys and eponym of Crete , is a figure in Greek mythology .

As the autochthonous king of the Eteocretes , he is said to have given the inhabitants of Crete the first laws before Minos . He hid Zeus from his father Kronos and raised the future Olympic ruler. In this function, Kres is assigned to the Curetes .

According to other traditions, he was a son of Zeus and an Idaean nymph .
