Krettnach is a district of the city of Konz in Rhineland-Palatinate with 494 inhabitants (as of 2008). Krettnach is located approx. 6 km southeast of the city center of the city in the so-called Konz valley and is mainly characterized by viticulture.
history
First mentioned in 1148 as Cretenach and in 1203 as Crittenach, it was administered by the Trier Abbey of St. Matthias in the Middle Ages and in the early modern period . In the Middle Ages, the place was the target of a banishing procession . a. the residents of Konz took part, who then had to be entertained by the residents of Niedermennig on the way back (cf. LHAK order 1A no. 1566).
On June 7, 1969, Krettnach and Niedermennig formed the new community of Mennig, which was incorporated into the city of Konz on November 7, 1970.
Attractions
In recent times, the place has expanded significantly with numerous new buildings. The parish church of St. Ursula with its Romanesque choir tower from the 12th century is well worth seeing . Krettnach belongs to the Konzer Tälchen - a former arm of the ancient Moselle - in which the towns of Niedermennig , Obermennig , Krettnach and Oberemmel are located.
In addition to the landscape in a former river bed, there are historical sights such as B. to visit the historic oil mill in Niedermennig, an intact, water-powered oil mill. There is also a Finnbahn for walkers and the Konzer Tälchen adventure trail as well as many opportunities for hikers, cyclists and riders to enjoy nature.
