The Kreuzkirche in the Sennestadt district of Bielefeld is an Evangelical- Lutheran parish church. It is located in the immediate vicinity of the Sennestadthaus on the B68 . The church is a monument .

history

In 1855 almost all Protestants in the parish of Senne II were transferred to the parish of Ubbedissen . Church services were only occasionally celebrated in Senne II. Therefore, the parish Senne II was founded in 1873, which from 1890 comprised almost the entire political community.

The parish planned to build its own house of worship. According to the overall calculation in 1892, the house should cost a total of 26,000 marks . Of this, 21,000 marks came from state grants, of which the Prussian regional council in Minden contributed 15,000 and the municipality of Senne II contributed 6,000 marks. 2000 marks were borrowed, 2200 marks came from the collection in the ecclesiastical province of Westphalia . The missing 800 marks were raised as contributions in kind by the community members, in particular through cooperation and clamping services . The choir window was taken from the auditorium of what was then Gütersloh grammar school.

The foundation stone was laid on July 21, 1893. According to the Eisenach regulation , the church was built in a rectangular construction and consecrated on September 12, 1894. For cost reasons, no heating and tower were used. The building of the tower, which was postponed to a later date, was never realized. It was collected for construction until 1916, but the capital brought in - up to then 4,000 marks - was completely lost through the loss of the subscribed war bonds .

An altar Bible with a personal dedication by the Empress and Queen Auguste Viktoria was given to the church. The electrical lighting system was installed in 1917, and the organ gallery was expanded in 1926.
