Weissenburg War Memorial
The war memorial is a memorial near Weißenburg i.Bay. , the district town of the Central Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen . It is located in the Weißenburger Stadtwald, southeast of the city center, at an altitude of approx. 512 meters above sea level , halfway between the Römerbrunnen and the Willibaldsbrunnen . The memorial is dedicated to the fallen soldiers of the First World War and the Franco-German War and is registered as a monument in the Bavarian list of monuments under the file number D-5-77-177-356 .
The war memorial site is a neo-Gothic , open wall construction over an octagonal floor plan. It was built in 1923 according to plans by Ludwig Ruff . The inauguration took place on June 3, 1923.
