Kristiina Ehin (born July 18, 1977 in Rapla ) is an Estonian poet and songwriter , translator and singer .

biography

Kristiina Ehin was born as the daughter of the Estonian poet, writer and translator Andres Ehin (1940-2011) and the poet Ly Seppel (* 1943).

She studied Estonian and comparative folk poetry at the University of Tartu from 1995 to 2004 and completed her studies with a master's degree. In 1997 and 1998 she also studied wood design and restoration at the Tartu Art School ( Tartu Kunstikool ). Kristiina Ehin lives in Tartu .

From 1995 to 2000 she also worked as a dance teacher and since 1996 she has been a freelance writer. She used to translate books from English. The volume of poetry Kaitseala ("Protected Area") was written in 2005 in the seclusion of the uninhabited island of Mohni on the Estonian north coast.

Since 2012 she has been a member of the singing quartet Naised köögis (women in the kitchen).

For the XXVI. Song festival she wrote the theme song Puudutus ( touch ).

In 2011 she married the musician Silver Sepp . She has a daughter with him (* 2016), as well as a son from a previous relationship.

In 2014 she was honored with the Culture Prize from Estonia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs
