Kristofer Anthony Speier (born March 28, 1981 ) is a former American - German basketball player . In the 2004/05 season he played 22 games in the basketball division .

career

Speier grew up in the USA as the son of a German father. He played from 1999 to 2003 at Lewis & Clark College in the US state of Oregon and completed a business degree. In his senior season he was named the best male athlete at the college and received the Joe Huston Award for it.

Then he made the step to professional basketball and from 2003 was under contract with Schwelmer Baskets , with whom he won the championship title in the 2nd Bundesliga North and was promoted to the basketball Bundesliga in his first professional season . In the 2004/05 season he was used for Schwelm in 22 Bundesliga games and scored an average of 5.0 points and 3.1 rebounds per game. His best performance was 14 points in the duel with Braunschweig on April 2, 2005. He was relegated with Schwelm as bottom of the Bundesliga and then moved to FC Schalke 04 . With the "Knappen" he was a top performer in the 2nd Bundesliga until 2007.

In 2007 Speier returned to Schwelm, the team now played in the 1st Regionalliga West. In the 2009/10 season he led Schwelm to win the championship title and was named "Player of the Year" in the Regionalliga West by the internet provider eurobasket.com . After promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga ProB , Speier was still the top performer of Schwelmer before he moved to BG Hagen in the Regionalliga in 2012 , where he played for a year.

Speier later played for the team of the gymnastics community Zur Roten Erde von 1848 Schwelm, then became the coach of the team in the 2nd regional league and took over the coaching of the Schwelmer Baskets in the ProB in February 2016 until the end of the 2015/16 season. He was unable to prevent relegation to the regional league. For the 2016/17 season Speier returned as a player in Schwelm's regional league squad and rose with the team to the ProB. Speier's shirt number 30 has not been awarded in the Schwelm team since he finished his playing career in 2017.

At the end of January 2018 he became assistant trainer under Falk Möller in Schwelm, this cooperation was held until the end of the 2017/18 season.
