Krraba ( Albanian  also  Krrabë and Kërraba or Kërrabë ) is a village in Qark Tirana in central Albania . The place in the municipality of Tirana is about 20 kilometers south of Tirana .

Until 2015, Krraba was an independent municipality ( komuna ) . In 2011 it had 2343 inhabitants. The neighboring villages Mushqeta and Skuterra also belonged to the community .

Krraba is located in the Kodrat e Krrabës hills named after her, south of the capital Tirana, on a mountain slope between 360 and 460  m above sea level. A. The 1091  m above sea level rises above the village . A. high Mali i Kalasë , part of the peripheral mountain range that runs parallel to the Albanian coast. A left tributary of the ore flows near the village .

Krraba grew up as a miners' settlement. Lignite , which has little energetic value, was mined around the place . Mining began on a modest scale around 1935, after which it was pushed under the Communists when around 800 workers were employed in the mines. Together with Valias northwest of Tirana, the second deposit in the Tirana Basin, Krraba formed the most important coal-producing region in Albania. Production fell sharply in the 1990s and was completely discontinued in 2000 at the latest.

The SH3 national road , which connects Tirana with Elbasan via the Krraba Pass , runs through Mushqeta, which is separated from the town of Krraba by a deep gorge  . In 2013, the Krraba tunnel was also opened as part of the A3 , which will shorten the travel time between Tirana and Elbasan. Its north portal is located southwest of the village of Krraba.
