The Krraba Tunnel ( Albanian  Tuneli i Krrabës ), also Kërraba Tunnel (Alb. Tuneli i Kërrabës ), is a road tunnel under construction in central Albania south of the capital Tirana . The tunnel, which is around 2,200 meters long, is part of the A3 motorway which , once completed, will connect the cities of Tirana and Elbasan and pass under the ridge of the Kodrat e Krrabës ( Krraba hills ).

The tunnel is being built by the Greek construction company Aktor in cooperation with the US company Copri . Work on this began on April 29, 2011. At the end of November 2011, around a quarter of the construction work on the tunnel had been completed and by mid-February 2012 half of it had already been completed.

On June 16, 2013 - in the middle of the election campaign for the parliamentary elections - the tunnel including the A3 motorway from Tirana to Elbasan was officially opened by Prime Minister Sali Berisha ( PD ). For the time being, however, only one lane per tunnel can be used; traffic is regulated by a light signal system.

The short connection to the SH3 in the north is still provisional. In the south, a lane of the approximately eleven-kilometer-long new line to the town of Bradashesh, west of Elbasan, has been completed and opened for oncoming traffic.
