Construction of the Krungthep Bridge began on October 31, 1954 and was completed on March 24, 1959; the official opening took place on June 25, 1959. It is the second bridge over the Chao Phraya in Bangkok and cost around 31 million baht . Four lanes and a pedestrian crossing can be used.
