The Kruschitzkyturm is a medieval defense tower of the listed city ​​fortifications of the city of Quedlinburg in Saxony-Anhalt .

location

The tower is located in the western part of the old city fortifications of the historic Quedlinburg old town on the west side of Hohen Strasse, east of Wallstrasse. A little further north is the Powder Tower .

History and architecture

The Kruschitzkyturm is five-storey built on a square floor plan. It is designed as a shell tower and has a shooting chamber and a wall rampart . The tower, which is covered by a pointed roof , has cloverleaf arched openings on its top floor. It was probably made in the 14th century. The tower, which was originally open on the city side, was later closed with half-timbering . The name Kruschitzky goes back to a later owner of the tower.
