Lindenbeinscher Tower
The Lindenbeinsche Tower , also Lindenbeinturm , Hoher Turm or Sternkiekerturm is a medieval defense tower of the listed city fortifications of the city of Quedlinburg in Saxony-Anhalt .
location
The tower is located immediately north of the Lindenbeinschen Villa in the western part of the old city fortifications of the historic Quedlinburg old town, east of Wallstrasse.
History and architecture
The tower is 42 meters high. The tower is open on the city side, this was originally the case with the other defensive towers in Quedlinburg. At the end of the 19th century, the tower was rebuilt in the style of historicism . In the taste of the time, it was given a romantic crowning glory with a viewing gallery. The name goes back to the entrepreneur Georg Lindenbein, who had the neighboring villa built in 1898 and, for his wife, also arranged the renovation of the tower.
Today it serves as the highest observation tower in Quedlinburg. Access is only possible via the premises of the neighboring Lindenbeinschen Villa, which is operated as the Schlosshotel Zum Markgrafen.
