Xenia or Xeni (Latinized Xena ) is a Greek female given name .

Word origin and meaning

The name is derived from the Greek word ξενία (the 'hospitable') or ξένη (the 'stranger'), the common root for guest and host is typical. Today in Greece foreigners are called Xeni , the Roman and Russian saints of the same name are both celebrated there on January 24th and under the name Οσία Ξένη (Osia Xeni).
