Life

The native Russian, whose artistic talent was encouraged by her parents at an early age, fled to Constantinople during the Russian Revolution , where she worked as a variety dancer and from there to Berlin . It was here that her successful, albeit short, screen career began - mainly with films directed by Johannes Guter - and ended with the advent of talkies.

Little is known about the former silent film star's further life. She was the mother of the 1913 Berlin born actress Tamara Desni and mother-in-law of the Canadian actor Raymond Lovell (1900-1953). Between 1924 and 1926 she had a "summer residence" built in Bansin , which she lived in with her daughter for several years until the house passed into the hands of the industrialist Gerdes.

Xenia Desni died on June 27, 1962 in France, Extrait de décès: No 10/1962.

Remarks

  1. More likely is the date of birth January 19, 1894, which has not yet been proven by an official document. That would also mean that she gave birth to her daughter Tamara at 19 years of age (rather than 16).
