founding

The company was founded in Remscheid in 1919 by Alfred Kleinbongartz and his brother-in-law Emil Kaiser. The founders dealt with the problem of solving stuck parts of machines, motors or shafts without causing damage to the reusable parts. Due to the rapidly advancing industrialization at the beginning of the 20th century, there was an increasing need for extractor tools from KUKKO .

Corporate development

From the founding of the company in 1919 until today, it has been run as a family-owned partnership. In 1995 the KUKKO tool factory was first certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001: 2000 . In 1998 the company Eduard Gottfr. Ferne GmbH und Co. KG, which carries the brand names TURNUS and WINKELGREIF , was bought. The product range was thus expanded to include screw clamps , pliers and filing clamps . In 2003 the Groote company from Remscheid was bought and incorporated into Eduard Gottfr. Ferme GmbH & Co. KG incorporated. This move expanded the TURNUS product range to punch numbers and letters from our own production. In 2005, the production rooms and machines of the company Heinz Schlieper Werkzeuge GmbH (HSW), Wuppertal, were taken over, and the product portfolio was expanded to include screwdrivers . Wilhelm Bäcker GmbH & Co KG from Hilden, which was founded in 1935 and manufactures maintenance tools for the automotive sector and industry under the brand name Wilbär, also belongs to Kukko.
