The Kulangnagu ( Chinese  库 浪 那 古河 , Pinyin Kùlàngnàgǔ Hé ) is an approx. 110 km long right tributary of the Yarkant in Xinjiang in the extreme southwest of the People's Republic of China . It runs in the western Kunlun Mountains in the west of the Kargilik district .

River course

The Kulangnagu rises at an altitude of 4700  m . It is fed by a glacier on the northern flank of a 6045  m high mountain. The Kulangnagu initially flows almost 60 km in a north-westerly direction through the high mountains. The river valley is flanked on both sides by a nearly 6000 m high glaciated mountain ridge. The upper reaches of the Yarkant runs almost parallel to the south-west, 30 km. The Kulangnagu then turns 25 km to the north. On this section of the river, it cuts through the mountain range that previously ran north. The Quepu , the most important tributary of the Kulangnagu, flows into the river on the right. The last 25 kilometers of the Kulangnagu flow in a north-northwest direction in a narrow river valley through the mountains. Finally it flows into the Yarkant at an altitude of about 2150  m . The Kulangnagu leads in summer during snowmelt flood . In winter the river is partly frozen. The catchment area of the Kulangnagu covers about 2300 km².
