Culture Prize of the City of Fürth

The City of Fürth Culture Prize has been honoring people with outstanding achievements in the field of art who are connected to Fürth through birth, life or work since 1970 . The guidelines that apply today came into force on January 1, 2012, following a resolution by the city council on December 21, 2011.

Every 2 years, € 12,000 (€ 6,000 each from two budget years) is available for awarding the prizes. If, due to the worthiness of the prize, proposed persons or groups in the composition of the prize money need € 13,000, € 1,000 is to be taken from the freely available fund of the same budgetary point.

  • The prize money for the City of Fürth Culture Prize is € 6,000.
  • The city of Fürth's cultural sponsorship awards are worth € 2,000 each.
  • The city of Fürth's special culture prize is worth € 3,000 each.
  • The Leonhard and Ida Wolf Memorial Prize is endowed with € 1,500 each.

The city has been awarding the Jakob-Wassermann Literature Prize in honor of its great son since 1996 .

The Fürth siblings Leonhard (1897–1983) and Ida (1892–1993) Wolf donated a commemorative prize to promote young artists from the fields of music and visual arts who live in Middle Franconia, preferably in Fürth and Nuremberg. The prize has been awarded since 1995.
