Ortwin Michl (* 1942 in Marienbad , Sudetenland ) is a German painter and art professor .

Life

Michl studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg and in 1971 became a master student of Ernst Weil . In 1972 Michl received the City of Fürth's Culture Prize , in 1983 the Art Prize of Fürth Industry and in 2002 the City of Fürth's Culture Prize . From 1986 to 2007 he was professor at the Georg Simon Ohm University of Applied Sciences in Nuremberg in the design department, and from 1997 to 1999 he was the dean of the department.

Services

From 1970 Michl exhibited at home and abroad, and since 1971 he has been a member of the artist group Der Kreis . From 1998 Michl was involved in the design of the Rathaus , Stadthalle , Klinikum and Hardhöhe underground stations in Fürth. Michl is considered to be one of the fathers of the Fürth Art Gallery, which opened in 2002 .

Michl's works are in the possession of the State Presidium of Karlsruhe, the Bavarian State Painting Collection in Munich, the Germanic National Museum in Nuremberg , the Sparkasse Nuremberg , the Gesellschaft der Kunstfreunde Fürth and various private collections.
