Art Association Viernheim

The Kunstverein Viernheim in Viernheim near Mannheim was founded in 1999. This makes it one of the youngest in comparison to other art associations . Since 2000 he has been a member of the ADKV , the umbrella organization of German art associations.

The conceptual approach of the association is to present and promote current contemporary art . In addition, it sees itself as an experimental field in which primarily young media artists can present themselves. Many of the previous exhibitions have been specially developed for the large vaulted cellar, the main exhibition space of the Kunstverein.

In 2005 the installation of the Czech biennial participant Pavel Mrkus was placed among the 250 most important exhibitions worldwide by the editorial team of art magazine .

Since 2006, the art association has also regularly presented exhibitions in the rooms of the newly founded “Kunsthaus Viernheim”.

The art association is run by a voluntary board. Media artist Fritz Stier is both chairman and exhibition director.
