biography

Bosslet's atelier in Dresden

From 1975 to 1982 he studied painting at the Berlin University of the Arts with Raimund Girke . At the end of the 1970s he turned to installations and sculptures. Since the early 1980s, he has updated the concept of intervention with his interventions in the architectural interior and exterior . In 1981 he co-founded the project space / gallery MOPEDS and the artist group MATERIAL & WIRKUNG e. V., both in Berlin. In 1991 he was awarded a scholarship at the Deutsche Akademie Villa Massimo . In 1997 he was appointed professor for sculpture and spatial concepts at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts . Since 2012 he has lived and worked in Berlin and Dresden.

Bosslet only uses products and technologies from industrial and commercial reality in his work. They are always an essential, visible and aesthetic part of his works. He uses ignoble, ordinary materials that are connected as objects in unusual constellations.

Works

Interventions

Since 1983: Working on ruins: “Construction drawings, reforms and accompanying phenomena”, in this context transformation of the conditions in industrial and residential buildings through linear or flat application of paint.

Installations

Art made from formwork: Eberhard Bosslet has been using formwork systems and slab props from the construction industry in sculptures and installations since 1985 . They are "supportive measures". Here, Bosslet creates a reorganization of the exhibition rooms with the apparent stabilization and destabilization of the building fabric through the installation of constructive structures. His “modular structures” are free-standing sculptures made from the formwork elements used in the construction industry.
