The rest home was extremely modern for the time, it had electric lighting, bathrooms on the upper floors and a bowling alley . After opening on July 5, 1911, it was converted into a war hospital for three years in 1914 . From 1944 to 1951 it was an emergency hospital for Annweiler . In 1993 the property was acquired by the state of Rhineland-Palatinate and the renovated building was used as a police school. After the police school was moved to Enkenbach , the building was up for sale. In 2010 it was acquired by Albrecht Hornbach and thoroughly renovated ; it has served as a scientific conference and meeting center since it opened in May 2011.
