History of origin

The Kurhessen-Therme is a private thermal bath built under the direction of the entrepreneur Werner Wicker. Its founding came about because the city of Kassel was looking for a private investor who was to develop a new healing spring with deep drilling . This meant that the “Bad” status for the Wilhelmshöhe district should be retained. The water from old brine sources, which was brought to the surface after successful drilling on May 1, 1914 and July 13, 1915, from a depth of 1,250 m, had dried up over time and Kassel itself had no money for a new drilling. In return for a successful drilling, the city made the site available to the entrepreneur to build a thermal bath with an integrated sauna and therapy area. The very complex deep drilling, which began on July 28, 1978, was successfully completed on May 30, 1979 at a depth of 674 m. Since then, warm and slightly salty water with a beneficial climate has been flowing sufficiently richly into the thermal bath.

The Kurhessen Therme was opened on February 25, 1983.

Thermal and adventure pool

The indoor and outdoor pools of the pool have a water surface of 1200 m² with thermal brine water at 31 to 37 ° C, massage jets, bubble beds, hot whirlpool pools, waterfalls, a sunbathing area and a brine grotto. In the sauna world there are 8 saunas (45 to 100 ° C), the ladies' sauna area 1001 Nights (since May 2016) and a 203 m² sauna lake in the nudist paradise garden. A world of 1001 nights was reopened in 2018.
