Kursdorf is a district of the district town of Eisenberg in Thuringia .

geography

Kursdorf is located about two kilometers southeast of the city center on federal highway 7 and in the valley of the Malzbach. The winding and steadily sloping federal road 7 leads to Gera. The Malzbach unites with the Rauda and flows into the White Elster at Crossen . The valley is mostly forested on both sides on the steep slopes and hills. In Kursdorf, the famous Mühltalweg branches off to the west , which is also part of the Thuringian chain of cities .

history

The place was first mentioned in a document on June 2, 1268. Kursdorf belonged to the Wettin district office of Eisenberg , which was under the sovereignty of various Ernestine duchies due to several divisions during its existence . In 1826 the place came with the southern part of the Eisenberg district office and the city of Eisenberg from the Duchy of Saxony-Gotha-Altenburg to the Duchy of Saxony-Altenburg .

The previously independent municipality of Kursdorf was incorporated into Eisenberg on March 8, 1994.

About 500 meters southeast of the village is a stone cross on the main road. At this point the Margrave Eckbert III. have been slain by the emperor Heinrich IV . In addition, there are two burial mounds in Hagen 88 that are assigned to the Neolithic Age.
