Kurt App

Kurt App (* 1952 in Pforzheim ) is a German object artist .

App has been working with woodwind instruments since 1969 , especially saxophones . He also gained experience in making musical instruments and played free jazz in various formations . From 1974 to 1976 he studied mathematics and physics, after which he worked again as a musician in various experimental groups, and from 1980 also artistically as a painter. In 1985 he joined the group Raum-Musik für Saxophone (RMFS), which consisted of up to ten saxophonists and performed improvised music with spatial references. Since 1993 he has also played experimental music with electrical installation pipes in the Trio App, Georgen, Reger. Apps has focused on sound installations since 1995 , often working with Kristof Georgen. App lives in Stuttgart and was a lecturer at the Free Art Academy Nürtingen from 2001 to 2005 .
