history

The Landbuch der Mark Brandenburg states that Wetzenow was mentioned in 1375. From before 1375 to 1408 the place belonged to the possessions of the Pomeranian noble family von Lindstedt , before Wetzenow was bought by the magistrate of Pasewalk and the local St. Georgs Hospital and remained in their possession until 1713. From 1713 to 1872 it belonged to the estate of those von Wedell zu Malchow .

At the beginning of October 1760, a battle between Prussian and Swedish troops took place in Wetzenow during the Seven Years' War . The damage caused by the battle and the whole war was still clearly visible in 1764 in both Wetzenow and Rossow . Wetzenow also belonged to the Trampe patrimonial court until 1849 and to the district court district of Brüssow from 1879 to 1952.

In 1948, the Soviet Military Administration in Germany (SMAD) with a land reform in the Soviet Occupation Zone (SBZ) expropriated land from large landowners , divided it up and redistributed it to farmers or displaced persons. In Wetzenow, 252 hectares of land were expropriated and redistributed. In 1955 the first LPG type I with 127 ha was founded in Wetzenow, which was converted into a LPG type III with 32 members by 1957 and comprised 268 hectares of land and by 1960 increased to 54 members with 381 hectares. Before 1975, LPG Wetzenow merged with LPG Zerrenthin while LPG Rossow maintained a dairy cattle facility in Wetzenow in 1978. Wetzenow was incorporated into Rossow as a district in 1965 .
