Børset started in the Ski Jumping Continental Cup in 1993 . On March 5, 1994 he made his debut in the Ski Jumping World Cup and jumped to 27th place in Lahti , which also won him World Cup points for the first time. On March 20, 1994 he jumped in the World Cup jumping in Planica , which also represented the ski flying world championship 1994 for the first time among the top ten and finished in 8th place. He finished the 1993/94 World Cup season in 59th place overall. In the ski flying ranking he reached the 8th place. The following season was largely unsuccessful in the Continental Cup. With 68 points he was only 102nd in the overall Continental Cup ranking. In January and February 1995 he started again in World Cup competitions in Engelberg and Vikersund , with 30th place in Engelberg once again winning World Cup points. In the following two years he remained in the Continental Cup without any evaluable results. It was not until the 1997/98 season that he achieved the best placement of his career in the overall Continental Cup with 358 points and 34th place. After he again competed in a World Cup ski flying in Vikersund in February 1998 and finished 49th in the process, he ended his active international ski jumping career. At the national level, shortly after the end of the World Cup season, he was able to win the Norwegian championship in team jumping in Trondheim with the Sør-Trøndelag team, consisting of him, Arve Vorvik , Håvard Lie and Roar Ljøkelsøy .
Børset now lives in Løkken Verk . He now works as a technical director at national show jumping and as a judge.
