Kurt Dossin (born March 28, 1913 in Leipzig - Reudnitz , † April 26, 2004 in Bad Kreuznach ) was a German handball player . He was a gold medalist at the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin and three-time German field handball champion .

Life

Dossin began his development as a field handball player at the FC Sportfreunde Leipzig club. Dossin played a total of five international matches as a middle runner against Switzerland, Sweden, Hungary, the USA and Austria. Furthermore, Kurt Dossin won three German championships in field handball with his club MTSA Leipzig (military and sports department Leipzig). The finals ended in 1937 against Waldhof Mannheim 5: 4, in 1938 against MSV Weißenfels 6: 5 and in 1939 against TUS Lintfort 7: 5

At the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin, Dossin was set up twice. On August 8, 1936 in the group game against the USA, in which he scored a goal. Still in the final two days later against Hungary. He also scored a goal in this game. On August 24, 1936, he signed the city of Leipzig's Golden Book.

In the post-war period, Dossin built up the handball department of the MTV Jever von 1862 eV club and was a long member of its board. He played actively for MTV until 1950 and was also involved in youth work as a trainer and functionary.

His sporting achievements are archived in the form of pictures and newspaper clippings in the Leipzig Sports Museum . The sports museum also has trophies and, for example, the original Olympic hat from 1936.

At the invitation of the Organizing Committee of the XX. Olympic Games, he was guest of honor at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich.

Kurt Dossin's grave is located in the main municipal cemetery in Bad Kreuznach.

The gold medal is owned by the SG GGR / HFC Schortens sports club . In 1985 Kurt Dossin donated the medal to the club with the stipulation that a deserving athlete be honored each year.
