Florian Vetsch

Florian Vetsch (born April 13, 1960 in Buchs SG , resident in Grabs ) is a Swiss author , translator and editor of American and German beat literature.

education and profession

The man of letters is in Buchs SG and in St. Gallen as the son of the government councilor Florian Vetsch and Anny, geb. Englishman grew up. There he attended the canton school at Burggraben, where he now teaches German and philosophy.

Vetsch studied German in Zurich with Wolfgang Binder, Alois Maria Haas and Stefan Sonderegger, philosophy with Hans-Jürg Braun and Jean-Pierre Schobinger, and literary criticism with Werner Weber. He graduated in 1985 and obtained his doctorate in the 1990/91 winter semester with a dissertation under Hans-Jürg Braun on Martin Heidegger .

Literary activity

His preferred field is Beat literature . He studied the works of Ira Cohen, Paul Bowles , Allen Ginsberg and others, some of which he translated from the American into the German language. He works as an editor, essayist , critic and poet . He has published numerous books and specialist articles in literary magazines, magazines and newspapers.

For over ten years Florian Vetsch worked with Boris Kerensky on the publication of the anthology Tanger Telegram, which is considered a cult reader . Journey through the literatures of a legendary Moroccan city ; The book was published by bilgerverlag in 2004 in Zurich and was reprinted in 2017.

Vetsch and Gallus Frei lead the literary event series Noisma in the Kult-Bau in St. Gallen. He also worked on the program committee of the Solothurn Literature Days 2018, 2019 and 2020.
