Jan Heller Levi

Jan Heller Levi (* 1954 in New York ) is an American poet .

Heller Levi grew up in Baltimore , spent a year at Beloit College in Wisconsin and graduated with a BA in 1977 . She worked as a freelance writer for several years and took care of public relations, for example. B. Carnegie Hall , Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt Foundation, and the Museum of Modern Art . After spending a year in Europe, she moved to an art magazine , probably under the influence of her first husband, Ken Sofer . From 1978 to 1980 she was Muriel Rukeyser's personal assistant . Today she lives with her second husband, the Swiss writer Christoph Keller , at times in Manhattan , at times in St. Gallen . She worked for the Times until 1996 . In addition to working on her own poems, she also took on teaching positions at times, for example at Hunter , at Sarah Lawrence College and at the Poetry Center of 92nd Street . She also acts as editor and biographer.
