Kurt C. Duwe (born January 24, 1951 in Hamburg ) is a German oceanographer and politician ( FDP ). He was a member of the Hamburg Parliament from 2011 to 2020 and its vice-president from 2017 to 2020.

Life

Duwe grew up in Hamburg. He received his doctorate in 1988 at the University of Hamburg with a thesis on " Modeling the brackish water dynamics of a tidal estuary using the example of the Lower Elbe ". Duwe works as an environmental consultant for water and marine protection.

Duwe was initially involved in the European Federalist Party (EFP) and was its federal chairman from 1987. In 1989 he had to resign after forging support signatures for the 1989 European elections .

After joining the FDP in 2002, he was Hamburg's deputy FDP regional chairman from 2009 to 2011. Duwe was a member of the Harburg district assembly from February 2008 to September 2011 and was chairman of the FDP parliamentary group there from 2009 to 2011. In February 2011 Duwe moved into the 20th citizenship via the state list in the 2011 state election. In it he was the specialist spokesman for urban development, the environment and the constitution. At the end of September 2011, he resigned from his district assembly mandate to focus on his work as a member of parliament.

In the 2015 mayor elections , Duwe was once again given a mandate through personal votes and has been a member of the 21st Hamburg Citizenship since March 2015 . There he is a member of the submission committee and the committee on the constitution, rules of procedure and election review. On November 8, 2017, the citizenship elected him as the successor to Wieland Schinnenburg , who was elected to the German Bundestag, as their Vice President.

After the FDP failed to meet the five percent threshold in the 2020 citizenship election , he left the citizenship.
