Kurt Hediger

Kurt Hediger (born November 6, 1932 in Rothrist ) is a Swiss painter .

Life

Kurt Hediger was born on November 6, 1932 in Rothrist. He initially trained as a primary school teacher at the Wettingen teacher training college. He then attended the Zurich School of Applied Arts , the École des Beaux-Arts and the École Estienne in Paris as well as the stage design class at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna . The meeting with Ernst Gubler and his brother Max Gubler was of decisive importance for his further artistic development .

Kurt Hediger has exhibited regularly since 1958, first in Switzerland, later also in Austria , Germany , France , Italy , Spain , Malta , Crete , countries that he has all traveled to since his youth, and later also Russia , Yemen and Syria .

In 1977 and 1980 he traveled to Peru , where he was particularly fascinated by the bright light of the Andean city of Ayacucho , and to Bolivia . He stayed in both countries for three months. Further extensive trips led him to North America and New Zealand .

He was close friends with the writer Wolfgang Hildesheimer and the actor Gert Westphal .

Kurt Hediger has lived and worked in Reinach AG since 1965 and has two sons, one of whom is the film scholar Vinzenz Hediger .
