Kurt Klay

Kurt Klay (born June 17, 1914 in Börßum , Wolfenbüttel district ; † April 3, 1991 in Salzgitter ) was a German politician ( SPD ) and a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament .

Life

Klay attended secondary school in Wolfenbüttel and graduated from high school in 1933. He began studying educational sciences at the Technical University of Braunschweig and passed his first teacher examination in February 1936. The second teacher examination followed in 1940, as Klay did his military service in the anti-aircraft cartillery from November 3, 1936 to October 25, 1938 . Until 1939 Klay held a teaching position, which he ended, as he did his military service until the end of the war (last lieutenant). After the end of the Second World War he was captured and was released from captivity in November 1945. In January 1946 he began teaching again. From 1953 Klay was employed as a school principal in Lutter am Barenberge and became rector in 1960. He was a member of the Education and Science Union and also became a member of the Workers' Welfare Association .

Klay was a member of the Stahlhelm . From May 25 to December 1, 1933 he was a short-term member of the SA . From February 24, 1934 to June 15, 1939 he was in the Hitler Youth (HJ) first comradeship leader, then squad leader and follower. From May 25, 1933 to February 28, 1936 he was in the NSD student union , from December 1, 1938 to August 15, 1939 in the NSV and from May 1, 1933 to August 15, 1939 in the NS teacher association . On July 1, 1940, he joined the NSDAP ( membership number 8.942.971).

On February 10, 1949, Klay was classified as a “fellow traveler” in Category IV by the Hildesheim-Marienburg denazification main committee. In the appeal proceedings he was denazified on July 1, 1949 in Category V as "Relieved".

Klay was a member of the Education and Science Union and the Workers' Welfare Union . In 1948 he became a member of the SPD. He became a member of the advisory board for sport in the SPD district of Braunschweig and of the SPD state committee. From 1948 he was chairman of the German Red Cross (DRK) in Lutter. From 1950 he was a member of the board of the Lower Saxony Football Association in the Gandersheim district.

Public offices

In 1956 he was elected mayor of Lutter am Barenberge . Since 1964 he was mayor of the Lutter am Barenberge community . In 1960 he moved as a member of the district assembly of the Gandersheim district . From 1977 he was a member of the district council of the district of Goslar . Klay was elected in the eighth and ninth electoral terms as a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament from June 21, 1974 to June 20, 1982.

Klay is the holder of the DRK badge of honor .
